Medication
If your child needs to take medication during the school day, a form must be completed to give permission. These are available from the school office or can be downloaded using the links below. The form should clearly state what medication is required and the length of time it needs to be given.
All medication must be provided in its original container, with your child’s name, class and dosage clearly labelled. This includes inhalers. All medication should also have the pharmacy label showing the child’s name and prescribed instructions, otherwise we will be unable to administer it. Depending on medication type, medication will either be kept in the classroom or in the main office for administering. It is important that parents and carers check that any medication sent into school is within its expiry date.
Please be aware that school staff are not required to give medication for short-term or minor illnesses, such as Calpol or antibiotics. If a course of medication is needed, parents should try to arrange doses outside of school hours (9.00am–3.15pm) as best as they can.
For safety reasons, medication should not be kept in school bags (with the exception of inhalers). All items must be handed directly to a member of staff at the school office with the appropriate forms completed.
