Agencies working with Kinnoull
At Kinnoull we work in close partnership with different agencies to support our pupils. There are a number of agencies and supports that parents can access and make referrals to, which may support children and support family life. Some of these have dedicated pages within our parent zone, but we have also listed them below.

- Transitions
Our school nurse is also going to be working alongside staff to support the delivery and use of the decider skills across our school.
Speech and Language Therapy- We also work closely with SALT to support our pupils. They also offer a number of courses throughout the year for staff to attend, including Makaton. Further information regarding SALT at Kinnoull and Makaton can be found on the dedicated pages.
Occupational Therapy- The Tayside Children and Young People's Occupational Therapy Service provides an Occupation Centred approach as a way to improve health and wellbeing for children. Occupational Therapy aims to enable children to be as independent as possible in their day to day occupations. Occupation is our fancy word for the activities you want to do, need to do and are expected to do. We will focus on occupations that are meaningful and important to your child and family. These may include self-care activities, play/leisure skills and/or school skills.
Children and Young People's Occupational Therapists will work closely with the child, their families and other people around them including schools and nurseries. Occupational Therapists are also based within the acute hospital setting and Community Adolescents Mental Health Service (CAMHS). The service is from 0 to 18 years.
Educational Psychology- The Educational Psychology Service aims to enhance the learning, development and emotional wellbeing of children and young people in Perth and Kinross. The primary focus is on overcoming barriers to learning, with interventions to promote learning, development, resilience and wellbeing.
Every Perth and Kinross school has an Educational Psychologist. Educational Psychologists operate a consultation service which provides an opportunity to seek least intrusive and early stage solutions through discussion with key adults in children's lives, as well as to agree and plan further work as appropriate. Partner provider nurseries are also able to contact the service for consultation. Young people, parents and carers can contact the service directly. Educational Psychologists also offer a consultation service to partner agencies offering support to young people post-school, such as Perth College, Skills Development Scotland and Services for Young People.
When working at the casework level (PDF, 45 KB) with children, young people and families, the primary focus is on overcoming barriers to learning, with interventions to promote learning, development, resilience and wellbeing. Consultation is the starting point for casework. Decisions about the extent and nature of Educational Psychologist involvement, beyond statutory requests, are based on the professional judgement of the Educational Psychologist following discussion and consideration of impact, vulnerability, young person's views, readiness to change and professional boundaries.
Parental and/or young person's consent is required for Educational Psychologist involvement and information storage where:
- ongoing consultation about a child or young person is agreed
- direct involvement with the child, young person or family is agreed
As well as working to link schools, Educational Psychologists also apply their psychological skills and knowledge by working to support staff training and development, project-based interventions, and undertaking pieces of research on behalf of the authority. In this way, a large number of children and young people benefit from Educational Psychology Service support.
